We’re teaching Harry French, which is mostly funny because he’s a cat, but secondarily because Alex only took elementary levels of French and I’ve never taken it at all. However, my dear brother is fluent and has spent several years teaching it- so I have a right to declare that Harry is “mon petit chat.” And Bonne Année! (early).
Gift season 2009 has quickly come and gone. I spent a long time trying to think of budget gifts as my first 5 months living in New York sent the pretty pennies flying out the window. After days of clicking through Etsy, I was inspired by the MANY beautiful letterpress calendars. Ultimately, I made my own calendar for my immediate family and Alex’s parents.
I used all of my own photographs, from various adventures over the past few years. Because I am not a letterpresser myself, I hand wrote all of the dates. On each of eight calendars. I may or may not have made 2010 leap year a few times- thank goodness for correction tape! I am quite delighted with the results, and I hope all you suckers… I mean dear family and friends!!… enjoy them. And of course I wrapped them in brown paper with red paper ribbon, because, what else would I do?
The 2009 gifting season was kind to me as well. A few choice gift cards, a gorgeous pair of flats, and a very very very gorgeous bag ([made by this wonderful creative genius] which you’ll hear more about very soon, I promise- a new year’s resolution is to improve my blogging frequency).
I realize there’s a lot of J.Crew here, but if you work where I work, and you appreciate a finely made garment that doesn’t cost you arms and legs (HELLO, AFTER CHRISTMAS SALE!)… you understand why. Plus my mother was outrageously generous to me in the form of that gift card, and therefore I will be the best dressed preschool teacher EVER. If not, very close to that.
More on that bag and another in a few days. Happy holidays, everyone. Be safe.
