Happy Snow Day, New York!

One of my most frequently used gifts from Christmas ’09 has not yet been mentioned here:

I’d like to take this opportunity to extend an official THANKS to Toby, Casey, Mom, Alex, Matt and Leah for providing me with this endless source of entertainment and its accoutrements – Mario Kart(!!!!), and Wii Fit Plus.

Now, I’m not typically one to toot my own horn, but I’m proud of something and would like to tell you about it. Since December 29th, 2009, I have lost 5 and a half pounds! How about that! In all seriousness, I am not now, nor have I ever been, overweight. I am very lucky in that sense. However, I have been unfit for quite awhile. I do walk a lot, so even my lapse in rigorous exercise would be fine, except that I have still been eating like I am working out daily (ha!). I always indulge myself – if I want to eat something, no matter how much butter or frosting (or buttercream frosting), I eat it. I try to keep the portions small, but I won’t stop myself altogether.

All of this means that I really need to do something to keep my body at a healthy weight and fitness level. The Wii Fit! It is seriously fun and challenging! And it makes me feel good to be getting in shape again. I just wanted to show you that these are my workouts now:

Who do you trust more: Me or NPR? The choice is yours.

It recently came to my attention that National Public Radio released their idea of “The Decade’s 50 Most Important Recordings.” While NPR’s is a list of songs, mine was a list of albums. It’s nice to see a lot of overlap, but the main criteria that sets us apart is that their list is for everyone, and my list is for me.

At any rate, I found it fascinating to read, and I thought you might, too!
