Spring = Renewal (Lands’ End, the Comeback Kid)

In recent weeks, I’ve been seeking out a dress to wear to a May wedding. Somewhere along my online window shopping journey, I made a shocking discovery. Lands’ End (seriously) has developed a very classy and attractive collection called Canvas. When I think of Lands’ End, I picture boxy dresses, mom-ass pants, and parkas. Canvas has nothing of the sort. My interpretation is sort of a Gap or J.Crew casual look, with a pricepoint in between the two (read: affordable!). Here’s what they have to say about it in their Press Kit:

…a new chapter in the Lands’ End story. The company, known for its rich sailing heritage, is chartering new territory and has created a modern destination called Lands’ End Canvas™. The new collection is an expansive line of effortless, versatile clothing for men and women that reinterprets Lands’ End’s authentic American style and combines it with modern, lived-in sensibility and fit.

Their main selling points are “Relevant Style,” “Modern Fit,” and “Real Value.” I’m curious about the quality of the products, but upon first glance, I’m impressed. Here are a few of my favorites from the collection:

Those might end up being the shoes I buy for the wedding. I don’t really like to wear heels too much… but I love those!

Here’s another fun game. Take a look at these two jackets.

Very similar, no? Right down to the hairstyles on the models. The righthand jacket is J.Crew and sells for $128. The lefthand jacket is by Lands’ End Canvas and goes for $69.50!!!!! Plus I think I like the fit of that one better! I’ve got big plans for you, Canvas.

At any rate, it’s nice to see an old company making a comeback. Good luck Lands’ End!
