Fashion

I was just checking out J.Crew Factory‘s newest arrivals and couldn’t help but laugh as I switched from window to window. I took a screencap so you could see the slightly insane collection of shirts for which I was window shopping (don’t worry, Alex, I didn’t buy anything!!!)

Obviously I’ve got stripes on the brain. It wasn’t til after I took the screencap that I looked down at my sleevies and realized what I was wearing today…

OOOOOH boy.

Happy weekend, everyone!

Sometime in the past few years, I fell in love with leather goods and details. Leather masters the concept of versatility: rugged or elegant, supple or tough, durable or delicate. These lust-worthy leather and leather-detailed items are all over my mental wish-list (and a few are in my own home).

MISCELLANEOUS – Clockwise from top left:

Herschel Supply Co. Parcel Suitcase – $199 – Travel in style. Anyone have one of these? Is it functional/durable?

Harlex Personalized Camera Neck Strap – $80 – Hint, hint: I would simply love to have one of these with my new initials!

My gorgeous studded leather wallet from Galeries Lafayette in Paris.

J. Crew Cashmere-Lined Leather Gloves – $69.99 on sale!

FOOTWEAR – Clockwise from top left:

Bloch Fonteyn Ballet Flat – $115 – Very little beats a black ballet flat, in my book. I wear mine (a Topshop knockoff) several times a week.

Stacy Adams Madison Boot – $170 – Alex was searching for a dress boot for almost a year when I finally found this one. He ordered these within a few days of my discovery (which is absolutely groundbreaking for him) and loves them.

Rachel Comey Penpal Boot – $398 – Is it fate that Steven Alan only carries these in my size?? Is it meant to be? Will they ever go on sale?

L.L. Bean 8″ Bean Boot – $89 – Simply classic.

BAGS – Clockwise from top left:

Opelle Large Ballet Bag – $272

Harlex Leather Pouch Bag – $225 – I think this might start appearing in my dreams. Extra beautiful.

Baggu Pouch M – $40

Ona Brooklyn Camera Bag – $309 – This one I got for Christmas, but it’s back ordered!! Can’t wait ’til it arrives.

P.S. People keep telling me they check my blog all the time, and I apologize for the many-month absence. Another semester is beginning and I know it’ll be insane, but I will do my best to update more. Note: If you comment, I know you’re reading! Which urges me to post more!! And let me know how you like the site-makeover!

If you don’t already know about Land’s End Canvas, you should look into it. I wrote about it awhile ago and stop by the site periodically to gaze at their classic and affordable styles. My dear friend Carrie (see her excellent food blog here) emailed me about the Living Social deal that she purchased this morning. The $30 coupon you purchase is good for $60 worth of goods at Lands’ End Canvas!!!! 50% savings, people!

You’ll find the deal right HERE, and don’t hesitate because often Living Social provides limited quantities of coupons!!

Here are some of the items that I’m already browsing…

Clockwise from top left:

Canvas 1963 Trip Bag – $140

Linen Officer Shirt – $24.99 (sale)

Leather Ankle Booties – $39.99 (sale)

Swim Essentials Floral French Bikini – $19.99 (top, sale), $14.99-16.99 (bottoms, sale)

Pleat-Front Jersey Henley – $34.50

Happy shopping!!!!!!!

Full disclosure: I do not work for Lands’ End or Living Social. I do, however appreciate a great deal and love sharing great deals with people I like. However, as most of these coupon websites work, if 3 people buy the coupon from my link above, I do get my coupon for free. I am not trying at all to be underhanded or sneaky… but I do like free things!

I know it’s not quite summer, technically, but it sure has been feeling like it! I’ve been spending as much time as possible in my never-nudes and have switched my sipping from bold IPAs and yummy porters to session-y bitters and yeasty Belgians. And I can’t get enough of the Victory Headwaters Pale Ale. We spent last Saturday morning in a park in West Philadelphia, enjoying iced coffees, old friends, and breakfast tacos. These pictures are from that morning.

Sometimes I feel like I’ll never find the right words to tell this man how much I love him, but I promise to try for the rest of my life. We met five years ago on this very day. Happy anniversary, my love.

And on a stylistic note, Saturday morning I was pleased to see the vignette that my much loved Tropezienne and my new L.L.Bean Signature Milbridge Clogs created. These clogs have completely scratched the clog itch I’ve been feeling for months and at a MUCH lower price! They’re comfortable, too!

That afternoon included spiked milkshakes… yes. The rest of last weekend included a BBQ with more old friends, quality time with dogs, beer tasting with my lovely Momma, and a grilled fajita dinner with my sister, her roommate, and several Pacificos. ‘Twas the best Memorial Day Weekend we could imagine.

I just wanted to holler out and let you know that I’m still here! The last weeks of the school year are a busy time, especially as I prepare to move on to a different state and a different type of life. Look forward to a post dedicated to my students, for they are splendid.

It’s no secret that I absolutely adore the work of Clare Vivier. It seems like ages since I met her in New York, not long after arriving here myself. Clare quietly launched her new site today, slipping the hyperlink in her latest blog post, saying “Come see us!” There are new bags to drool over, and a killer design makes them all look most fetching. Plus, I love the personal touch of her son’s artwork in the SHOP section:

My favorite new bag is Le Sac Bretelle, with a convertible strap that allows you to wear it over your shoulder, crossbody, or as a clutch. She posted a teaser about months ago, and I’ve been eagerly awaiting its arrival! Alex is already trying to talk me down from the ledge…

And before you start worrying, the classics are all still on the site, looking lovelier than ever! Happy shopping!!!!!!
